Hello, I'm the DGSA – the Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser . . .

Dangerous goods are not allowed to cause any damage whatsoever when we use them. I do my utmost to ensure that.

I know my way around our company and I need to, so that I have a good idea of everything that is going on. The first priority for me is safety, but I also need to keep an eye on quality and costs because, as a service provider within my own firm, I am consulted about many sectors.

• Packaging, equipment and load securing
• Bonding agents, fire extinguishers, emergency showers and warning devices
• Classification, labels and tremcards
• Training, training materials and data bases

It goes without saying that I pay particular attention to everything that has to do with transport. And I don't just mean packaging and the items which a driver needs to take with him – such as labels, documentation and load securing materials.

I advise those of my colleagues who have to handle hazardous substances, about the acquisition of the correct safety cabinets and collecting basins. Unfortunately, and despite precautions, things can go wrong, and so bonding agents and collecting basins are required. I also interfere when it comes to the purchase of fire extinguishers, warning equipment and emergency showers.

In addition, my colleagues and I are constantly reliant on basic and further training. That's why we regularly attend seminars about dangerous goods and keep up to date with our training.
